Description of the Bird
Very white bird with much brownish mottling on back and head. Perched on irrigation pipe. Easily seen. Bird did not move for the entire observation period. Assumed that this was the same bird that was seen closer to Fort Morgan on I76 a few weeks earlier. This bird was seen by most of those who were involved in the Weldona-Fort Morgan CBC - December 15, 2017.
Similar Species Discussion
None - could not imagine another bird with this coloration and size.
Resources Used
This bird is quite recognizable - did not use any other form of ID. Was able to get ID photos.
Previous Experience
I have seen Snowy Owls on two different locations in Colorado. The first being the juvenile owl seen east of Barr Lake State Park a few years ago. Also was able to see a bird at 114th & Trussville Road (near DIA) a couple of years ago.
