cloudy day; sun was at my back.
Description of the Bird
black head and throat; brick red or chestnut underparts; white wing bars; sharp beak. there was a Western Tanager in the same vicinity and the birds were about the same size.
Behaviors: I saw the bird only briefly. It was in some scrubby woods(young cottonwoods) near the edge of Bear Creek Reservoir. The bird flew into some scrub back towards the lake and I was not able to relocate it.

I knew immediately the bird was a male Orchard Oriole.

Have seen Orchard Orioles back east. Also identified an Orchard Oriole at Escalante State Wildlife Area on a spring count once.
