Description of the Bird
Walking along shoreline or sitting on ground near shoreline. Seen near two Spotted Sandpipers. First reported by Jack Doutrich on 5/3 as a Semipalmated Plover. Steve Getty pointed out that it was a Piping Plover. Small, plump, pale plover; the color of dry sand. In breeding plumage, thin broken black collar across chest, black stripe across forehead, orange legs, and orange bill with black tip. White wingstripe visible in flight.
