Description of the Bird
Pinkish bill, Black head, Rose colored "v" on chest Black back, white rump, white patches on wings
Behaviors: All three seen with Evening and Black-headed Grosbeaks, feed on the ground and also from suet and oranges placed in yard. Molting birds seem to be more aggressive..actively chasing off other birds...while full adult seems to avoid confrontation
Call: Heard...similar to American Robin...but sweeter
Plumage: 1 Adult Breeding, 2 Sub-adult or molting
Similar Species Discussion
Unmistakable. As all are males cannot be mistaken for Evening or Black-headed Grosbeaks
