Description of the Bird

The empids were seen on low perches in bushes and trees near the creek through the Ovid Woods.  Each bird had long primaries, a broad and straight-sided tail, an olive-colored back, grayish wash on the breast on an otherwise whiteish underside, grayish face, complete and narrow eyering, and large bill.  Each bird called "peep" many times (audio recording included with this report).

Similar Species Discussion

Willow and Acadian Flycatcher were also considered.  The "peep" call and complete eyering eliminate Willow.  The "peep" call eliminates Acadian.
