Description of the Bird
I heard a weeBEo raspy song x 2. I found the bird about 30 feet away. It was a "Traill's Flycatcher". The back, crown, and auriculars were green contrasting with a white throat. The primary extension was long. The wingbars and edging to tertials/secondaries were bright, contrasting sharply with blackish base-color to folded wings. There was a hint of a round eyering present. The bird sang weeBEo (accent on second syllable, third syllable soft) one more and then the bird flew off. I relocated it briefly a couple more times, but no additional marks were seen
Similar Species Discussion
Song distinguishes bird from Willow Fly (and pewees, for that matter). I've heard WIFL in west give a song accented on second syllable, but the song, but that song is buzzier, shorter and lacks the "o" at the end. Long primary extension also helps separate from WIFL and bird lacked crested appearnce of eastern WIFL, with a cleaner break between darkish auriculars and white throat.
Previous Experience
Moderate with ALFL and eastern WIFL. Extensive with western WIFL
